ब्राह्मणः क्षत्रियो वैश्यस्त्रयो वर्णा द्विजातयः । चतुर्थ एकजातिस्तु शूद्रो नास्ति तु पञ्चमः ॥ ४ ॥

sanskrit

Brahmana, the Kshatriya, and the Vaisya castes (varna) are the twice-born ones, but the fourth, the Sudra, has one birth only; there is no fifth (caste).

english translation

brAhmaNaH kSatriyo vaizyastrayo varNA dvijAtayaH | caturtha ekajAtistu zUdro nAsti tu paJcamaH || 4 ||
