[व] संपूज्याथाभ्यनुज्ञातॊ महर्षेर वचनात परम परत्युवाचानुपूर्व्येण धर्मराजॊ युधिष्ठिरः ॥ २-६-१ ॥
'After Narada finished speaking, King Yudhishthira just duly worshipped him, and as directed by the sage, the monarch began to respond concisely to the questions posed by the Rishi.' ॥ 2-6-1 ॥
english translation
[va] saMpUjyAthAbhyanujJAtò maharSera vacanAta parama paratyuvAcAnupUrvyeNa dharmarAjò yudhiSThiraH ॥ 2-6-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभगवन नयाय्यम आहैतं यथावद धर्मनिश्चयम यथाशक्ति यथान्यायं करियते ऽयं विधिर मया ॥ २-६-२ ॥
'Yudhishthira replied, "O revered one, the truths of religion and morality that you have elucidated one by one are indeed just and righteous."' ॥ 2-6-2 ॥
english translation
bhagavana nayAyyama AhaitaM yathAvada dharmanizcayama yathAzakti yathAnyAyaM kariyate 'yaM vidhira mayA ॥ 2-6-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराजभिर यद यथा कार्यं पुरा तत तन न संशयः यथान्यायॊपनीतार्थं कृतं हेतुमद अर्थवत ॥ २-६-३ ॥
'As for me, I earnestly adhere to those laws to the best of my ability. Undoubtedly, the deeds carried out by monarchs of the past, when executed correctly, yield appropriate outcomes, driven by sound reasons and aimed at rightful objectives.' ॥ 2-6-3 ॥

rAjabhira yada yathA kAryaM purA tata tana na saMzayaH yathAnyAyòpanItArthaM kRtaM hetumada arthavata ॥ 2-6-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवयं तु सत्पथं तेषां यातुम इच्छामहे परभॊ न तु शक्यं तथा गन्तुं यथा तैर नियतात्मभिः ॥ २-६-४ ॥
'O revered one, we aspire to tread the virtuous path of those rulers who also possessed a complete mastery over their souls.' ॥ 2-6-4 ॥

vayaM tu satpathaM teSAM yAtuma icchAmahe parabhò na tu zakyaM tathA gantuM yathA taira niyatAtmabhiH ॥ 2-6-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवम उक्त्वा स धर्मात्मा वाक्यं तद अभिपूज्य च मुहूर्तात पराप्तकालं च दृष्ट्वा लॊकचरं मुनिम ॥ २-६-५ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, "Yudhishthira, the illustrious son of Pandu, honored Narada's words with reverence and responded to the sage accordingly. After this exchange, he paused for a moment, deep in thought."' ॥ 2-6-5 ॥
