[द] तवं वै जयेष्ठॊ जयैष्ठिनेयः पुत्र मा पाण्डवान दविषः दवेष्टा हय असुखम आदत्ते यथैव निधनं तथा ॥ २-५०-१ ॥
'Dhritrashtra said, 'You are my eldest son, born of my eldest wife. Therefore, my son, do not harbor jealousy towards the Pandavas. Jealousy brings unhappiness and torment, akin to the suffering of death.'' ॥ 2-50-1 ॥
english translation
अव्युत्पन्नं समानार्थं तुल्यमित्रं युधिष्ठिरम अद्विषन्तं कथं दविष्यात तवादृशॊ भरतर्षभ ॥ २-५०-२ ॥
'O bull of the Bharata race, Yudhishthira knoweth not deception, possesseth wealth equal unto thine, hath thy friends for his, and is not jealous of thee.' ॥ 2-50-2 ॥
english translation
तुल्याभिजनवीर्यश च कथं भरातुः शरियं नृप पुत्र कामयसे मॊहान मैवं भूः शाम्य साध्व इह ॥ २-५०-३ ॥
'O King, how can you, who are equal in birth and valor, Desire your brother's fortune out of delusion? Do not be like this; calm yourself and be virtuous here.' ॥ 2-50-3 ॥
english translation
अथ यज्ञविभूतिं तां काङ्क्षसे भरतर्षभ ऋत्विजस तव तन्वन्तु सप्त तन्तुं महाध्वरम ॥ २-५०-४ ॥
'O bull of the Bharata race, if thou covetest the dignity attaching to the performance of a sacrifice, let the priests arrange for thee the great sacrifice, called the Saptatantu.' ॥ 2-50-4 ॥
english translation
आहरिष्यन्ति राजानस तवापि विपुलं धनम परीत्या च बहुमानाच च रत्नान्य आभरणानि च ॥ २-५०-५ ॥
'The kings of the earth will then, cheerfully and with great respect, bring for thee also much wealth and gems and ornaments.' ॥ 2-50-5 ॥
