[व] एवम उक्त्वा ततॊ भीष्मॊ विरराम महायशाः वयाजहारॊत्तरं तत्र सहदेवॊ ऽरथवद वचः ॥ २-३६-१ ॥
'Thus having spoken, the illustrious Bhishma ceased. Thereafter, Sahadeva, who was present, spoke a relevant and appropriate response.' ॥ 2-36-1 ॥
english translation
केशवं केशि हन्तारम अप्रमेयपराक्रमम पूज्यमानं मया यॊ वः कृष्णं न सहते नृपाः ॥ २-३६-२ ॥
'If there is any king among you who cannot tolerate seeing Kesava, the dark-hued slayer of Kesi, the embodiment of immeasurable energy, being honored by me, let my foot be placed on the heads of all such mighty ones.' ॥ 2-36-2 ॥
english translation
सर्वेषां बलिनां मूर्ध्नि मयेदं निहितं पदम एवम उक्ते मया सम्यग उत्तरं परब्रवीतु सः ॥ २-३६-३ ॥
'Let this foot of mine be placed on the heads of all powerful ones. Thus addressed by me, let him respond appropriately.' ॥ 2-36-3 ॥
english translation
मतिमन्तस तु ये के चिद आचार्यं पितरं गुरुम अर्च्यम अर्चितम अर्चार्हम अनुजानन्तु ते नृपाः ॥ २-३६-४ ॥
'And let those kings who possess wisdom approve of the worship of Krishna, who is the teacher, the father, the guru, and deserving of both the Arghya and the worship that has already been offered to him.' ॥ 2-36-4 ॥
english translation
ततॊ न वयाजहारैषां कश चिद बुद्धिमतां सताम मानिनां बलिनां राज्ञां मध्ये संदर्शिते पदे ॥ २-३६-५ ॥
'When Sahadeva thus displayed his foot, none of the intelligent, wise, proud, or powerful monarchs objected.' ॥ 2-36-5 ॥
