तस्माद्देशं च कालं च प्रयोगं शास्त्रमेव च । आत्मानं चापि संप्रेक्ष्य योगान्युञ्जीत वा न वा ॥ ४४ ॥
It is by taking into account the country, the period, custom, the injunctions of the sacred texts, as well as one's own tastes, that one decides whether or not to practice these kinds of sexual relations.

प्रयोक्ता के विचारणीय विषय-अतएव देश, काल, व्यवहार, शास्त्र और अपने को देखकर जो विधि एवं योग शिष्ट एवं ग्राह्म हों, उन्हें ही प्रयोग करें अर्थात् जो विधि एवं प्रयोग अशिष्ट एवं अग्राह्य हैं, उन्हें त्याग दे ॥ ४४ ॥
