येषां यस्मात् पञ्चकर्माण्यग्निवेश न कारयेत्| येषां च कारयेत्तानि तत् सर्वं सम्प्रवक्ष्यते||३||
O! Agnivesha, we will now describe about the patients for whom Panchakarma therapies are contra-indicated with proper reasoning and the patients for whom Panchakarma are indicated.
[Persons who are generally anupakramya (unsuitable for treatment)] The wise physician should not treat the following types of patients: 1. Who is fierceful or aggressive, adventurous, fearful, ungrateful and fickle minded; 2. Who hates good persons, kings and physicians and who is intensely disliked by them; 3. Who is afflicted with grief;
4. Who does not believe in God (nastika) 5. Who is in the end stage of disease and is predicted to die soon; 6. Who is not in position to collect the essential items (karana) for the treatment; 7. Who is enemy or hostile to the physician;
