अथातो विषचिकित्सितं व्याख्यास्यामः ॥१॥
Now we shall expound the chapter "Visha chikitsa"(Management of different types of poisoning).

athAto viSacikitsitaM vyAkhyAsyAmaH ॥1॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रागुत्पत्तिं गुणान् योनिं वेगाँल्लिङ्गान्युपक्रमान् । विषस्य ब्रुवतः सम्यगग्निवेश निबोध मे ॥३॥
Agnivesha, hear me carefully. Next I will explain about visha with the following aspects. Utpatti (origin), guna (properties), yoni (source), vegas (stages), lakshana (signs and symptoms) and chikitsa (therapeutic measures).

prAgutpattiM guNAn yoniM vegA~lliGgAnyupakramAn । viSasya bruvataH samyagagniveza nibodha me ॥3॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअमृतार्थं समुद्रे तु मथ्यमाने सुरासुरैः । जज्ञे प्रागमृतोत्पत्तेः पुरुषो घोरदर्शनः ॥४॥
॥ History of origin of visha॥ While the ocean was being churned by devas and asuras for obtaining amrita (nectar of life), before the formation of amrita a ferocious looking person with fiery eyes, four fangs and greenish locks emerged.

amRtArthaM samudre tu mathyamAne surAsuraiH । jajJe prAgamRtotpatteH puruSo ghoradarzanaH ॥4॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदीप्ततेजाश्चतुर्दंष्ट्रो हरिकेशोऽनलेक्षणः । जगद्विषण्णं तं दृष्ट्वा तेनासौ विषसञ्ज्ञितः ॥५॥
After seeing him the whole world became desperate and from that desperation, visha originated.

dIptatejAzcaturdaMSTro harikezo'nalekSaNaH । jagadviSaNNaM taM dRSTvA tenAsau viSasaJjJitaH ॥5॥
