नक्षत्रेण सहौदयं उपगच्छति येन देवपतिमन्त्री । तत्संज्ञं वक्तव्यं वर्षं मासक्रमेणएव ॥ ८-०१ ॥
The years of Jupiter (bṛhaspati) take their names from the several Nakṣatras in which he reappears after his conjunction with the Sun; and these names are identical with the names of the lunar months.
english translation
nakSatreNa sahaudayaM upagacchati yena devapatimantrI । tatsaMjJaM vaktavyaM varSaM mAsakrameNaeva ॥ 8-01 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवर्षाणि कार्त्तिकऽदीन्याग्नेयाद्भद्वयानुयोगीनि । क्रमशस्त्रिभं तु पञ्चमं उपान्त्यं अन्त्यं च यद्वर्षम् ॥ ८-०२ ॥
These years beginning from Kārttika follow, each, two stars beginning from Kṛttikā; but the fifth, the eleventh and the twelfth years follow, each, three Nakṣatras.
english translation
varSANi kArttika'dInyAgneyAdbhadvayAnuyogIni । kramazastribhaM tu paJcamaM upAntyaM antyaM ca yadvarSam ॥ 8-02 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशकटानलौपजीवकगोपीडा व्याधिशस्त्रकोपश्च । वृद्धिस्तु रक्तपीतककुसुमानां कार्त्तिके वर्षे ॥ ८-०३ ॥
In the Kārttika year of Jupiter, cart drivers, persons that live by fire and cows will be afflicted with miseries; there will be disease and wars in the land; flowers of blood and of yellow colour will thrive.
english translation
zakaTAnalaupajIvakagopIDA vyAdhizastrakopazca । vRddhistu raktapItakakusumAnAM kArttike varSe ॥ 8-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसौम्ये अब्दे अनावृष्टिर्मृगऽखुशलभाण्डजैश्च सस्यवधः । व्याधिभयं मित्रैरपि भूपानां जायते वैरम् ॥ ८-०४ ॥
In the Mārgaśīrṣa year of Jupiter, there will be drought and crops will be injuired by animals, by rats, by grass hoppers and by birds; there will be disease in the land and rulers will be at strife even with their friends.
english translation
saumye abde anAvRSTirmRga'khuzalabhANDajaizca sasyavadhaH । vyAdhibhayaM mitrairapi bhUpAnAM jAyate vairam ॥ 8-04 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशुभकृज्जगतः पौषो निवृत्तवैराः परस्परं क्षितिपाः । द्वित्रिगुणो धान्यार्घः पौष्टिककर्मप्रसिद्धिश्च ॥ ८-०५ ॥
In the Pauṣa year of Jupiter, mankind will be happy; princes will cease their enmity to one another; the price of food crops will become cheap doubly or tribly and there will be an increase of ceremonies to secure special benefits.

zubhakRjjagataH pauSo nivRttavairAH parasparaM kSitipAH । dvitriguNo dhAnyArghaH pauSTikakarmaprasiddhizca ॥ 8-05 ॥
