अतिवृष्ट्युल्कादण्डान्परिवेषग्रहणपरिधिपूर्वांश्च । दृष्ट्वाअमावास्यायां उत्पातान् पौर्णमास्यां च ॥ ४२-०१ ॥
Judging from the phenomena of excessive rain, of meteoric falls, of the appearance of the Daṇḍa, of Halos, of eclipse and parhelion occurring on the new or Full Moon day of a particular month, the astronomer shall determine that the price of commodities will rise; but if the phenomena should occur on any other days of the month, rulers will be at war.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्रूयादर्घविशेषान्प्रतिमासं राशिषु क्रमात्सूर्ये । अन्यतिथावुत्पाता ये ते डमरार्तये राज्ञाम् ॥ ४२-०२ ॥
If the phenomena referred to above should occur when the Sun is in the sign Meṣa (Aries)-April-May, a tradesman shall purchase the produce of Śarat; and if the phenomena should occur when the Sun is in Vṛṣabha (Taurus), he shall store up wild roots and fruits; and if he should dispose of these articles in the fourth month after purchase, he will make much profit.

brUyAdarghavizeSAnpratimAsaM rAziSu kramAtsUrye । anyatithAvutpAtA ye te DamarArtaye rAjJAm ॥ 42-02 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमेषौपगते सूर्ये ग्रीष्मजधान्यस्य संग्रहं कृत्वा । वनमूलफलस्य वृषे चतुर्थमासे तयोर्लाभः ॥ ४२-०३ ॥
If the phenomena should occur when the Sun is in the sign Mithuna (Gemini), the tradesman shall store up juicy articles and grains, and if he should sell them in the sixth month, he would make much profit.

meSaupagate sUrye grISmajadhAnyasya saMgrahaM kRtvA । vanamUlaphalasya vRSe caturthamAse tayorlAbhaH ॥ 42-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमिथुनस्थे सर्वरसान्धान्यानि च संग्रहं समुपनीय । षष्ठे मासे विपुलं विक्रेता प्राप्नुयाल्लाभम् ॥ ४२-०४ ॥
If the phenomena should occur when the Sun is in the sign Karka, he shall store up honey, perfumes, oil, ghee and sugar, and if he should dispose of them in the second month, they would fetch double their value; but if he should dispose of them before or after the second month, he would sustain loss.

mithunasthe sarvarasAndhAnyAni ca saMgrahaM samupanIya । SaSThe mAse vipulaM vikretA prApnuyAllAbham ॥ 42-04 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकर्किण्यर्के मधुगन्धतैलघृतफाणितानि विनिधाय । द्विगुणा द्वितीयमासे लब्धिर्हीनाधिके छेदः ॥ ४२-०५ ॥
They placed honey, fragrant oil and ghee in the sun on the canvas. The gain in the second month is twice as much as the cut in the deficit.
