Brihat Samhita
अनेकवर्णऽकृति खे प्रकाशते पुरं पताकाध्वजतोरणान्वितम् । यदा तदा नागमनुष्यवाजिनां पिबत्यसृग्भूरि रणे वसुन्धरा ॥ ३६-०५ ॥
If it should appear of various hues and shapes or of the shape of a flag, banner or archway, such bloody wars will rage over the land that the earth will drink large quantities of the blood of elephants, men and horses.
english translation
anekavarNa'kRti khe prakAzate puraM patAkAdhvajatoraNAnvitam । yadA tadA nAgamanuSyavAjinAM pibatyasRgbhUri raNe vasundharA ॥ 36-05 ॥
