भानां यथासम्भवं उत्तरेण यातो ग्रहाणां यदि वा शशाङ्कः । प्रदक्षिणं तत् शुभदं नृपाणां याम्येन यातो न शिवः शशाङ्कः ॥ १८-०१ ॥

sanskrit

If the Moon should pass to the north of the constellations (wherever possible) and of the planets, her course is known as Pradakṣiṇa (course from left to right). She will then cause prosperity to mankind; if on the other hand the moon should pass to the south of the stars and planets she will cause misery.

english translation

bhAnAM yathAsambhavaM uttareNa yAto grahANAM yadi vA zazAGkaH । pradakSiNaM tat zubhadaM nRpANAM yAmyena yAto na zivaH zazAGkaH ॥ 18-01 ॥
