रविराक्रन्दो मध्ये पौरः पूर्वे अपरे स्थितो यायी । पौरा बुधगुरुरविजा नित्यं शीतांशुर् आक्रन्दः ॥ १७-०६ ॥
The Sun when in mid-heaven is known as an Ākranda planet; when in the east he is known as a Paura planet and when in the west he is known as a Yāyin planet. Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn are always known as Paura planets. The Moon is always known as an Ākranda planet.
english translation
ravirAkrando madhye pauraH pUrve apare sthito yAyI । paurA budhagururavijA nityaM zItAMzur AkrandaH ॥ 17-06 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकेतुकुजराहुशुक्रा यायिन एते हता घ्नन्ति । आक्रन्दयायिपौरान्जयिनो जयदाः स्ववर्गस्य ॥ १७-०७ ॥
Ketu, Mars, Rahu and Venus are known as Yāyin planets. The planet that suffers defeat in conjunction will cause suffering to the objects it represents; but if triumphant, the objects will prosper.

ketukujarAhuzukrA yAyina ete hatA ghnanti । AkrandayAyipaurAnjayino jayadAH svavargasya ॥ 17-07 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपौरे पौरेण हते पौराः पौरान्नृपान्विनिघ्नन्ति । एवं याय्याक्रन्दा नागरयायिग्रहाश्चएव ॥ १७-०८ ॥
If a Paura planet should suffer defeat in conjunction with another Paura planet, citizens and rulers will suffer. Also if a Yāyin (marching to war) planet should suffer defeat in conjunction with another Yāyin planet or if an Ākranda (setting up a war cry) planet should suffer defeat in conjunction with another Ākranda planet or if either a Paura or Yāyin planet should suffer defeat in conjunction with a Yāyin or a Paura planet respectively, the objects represented by the planet which suffers defeat will suffer miseries.

paure paureNa hate paurAH paurAnnRpAnvinighnanti । evaM yAyyAkrandA nAgarayAyigrahAzcaeva ॥ 17-08 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptदक्षिणदिक्स्थः परुषो वेपथुरप्राप्य सन्निवृत्तो अणुः । अधिरूढो विकृतो निष्प्रभो विवर्णश्च यः स जितः ॥ १७-०९ ॥
That planet is said to suffer defeat in conjunction, which might happen to be the southern one, or of disagreeable appearance or of unsteady light or which might begin to retrograde immediately after conjunction or which might appear to be of small disc or which might be eclipsed by the other planets or which might undergo a change of nature or appear dim or of ugly appearance.

dakSiNadiksthaH paruSo vepathuraprApya sannivRtto aNuH । adhirUDho vikRto niSprabho vivarNazca yaH sa jitaH ॥ 17-09 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउक्तविपरीतलक्षणसम्पन्नो जयगतो विनिर्देश्यः । विपुलः स्निग्धो द्युतिमान्दक्षिणदिक्स्थो अपि जययुक्तः ॥ १७-१० ॥
If the planet should appear otherwise than as described above, he is deemed to be the triumphant planet and that planet in conjunction which might appear of large, bright, shining disc, is deemed triumphant though he might be the southern planet.
