प्राङ्नर्मदार्धशोणौड्रवङ्गसुह्माः कलिङ्गबाह्लीकाः । शकयवनमगधशबरप्राग्ज्योतिषचीनकाम्बोजाः ॥ १६-०१ ॥
In the eastern direction are the Nārdas, the Ardha-Śonas, the Oḍras, the Vaṅgas, and the Suhmas; the Kaliṅgas and the Bāhlīkas; the Śakiyas, Yavanas, Magadhas, Śabaras, the people of Prāgjyotiṣa, the Chīnas, and the Kāmbojas.

The Mekala, the Kirātas, the Viṭakas, the mountain-dwelling Bahiras, and the Pulindas; the southern half of the Drāviḍas, and the southern banks along the Yamunā.

Champā, Audumbara, Kauśāmbi, and the Cedi; the Vindhya forests and the Kaliṅgas; Puṇḍra, the Golāṅga, the Śrīparvata, and the Vardhamānas.

Then come Ikṣumatī and the regions of the bandits, the forests of the Parata, and the settlements of the Gopas; the lands of Tuṣa, grain-producing regions, bitter-trees, gold-burning zones, and the poisonous-war-loving people.

The physicians and healers, the four-footed farmers, and the kings who are protectors of life; the thieves; and in the forests of snakes, the fierce ones—over them the Sun is the lord.
