जन्मादिशेल्लग्नवीर्यगे दा छायांगुलध्नो र्कहतेऽवशिष्टम् ॥ आसीनसुप्तोत्थिततिष्ठताभं जायासुखाज्ञोदयगं प्रदिष्टम् ॥ २६-८ ॥
The birth (lagna) should be indicated when ॥ a planet॥ is at a particular degree in the lagna with strength or when multiplied by the digits of a shadow and divided by 12, the remainder is the birth (lagna).
