Astanga Hrudaya
सुरादिमूत्रवान् बस्तिः सप्राक्पेष्यस्तमानयेत्। युक्तोऽल्पवीर्यो दोषाढ्ये रूक्षे क्रूराशयेऽथवा॥६॥
This decoction is blended with surā (fermented liquor), cow's urine (mūtra), and the therapeutic pastes (peṣya) mentioned previously to effectively draw out and evacuate the stagnant fluids and accumulated doṣas. When an enema of weak potency (alpa-vīryaḥ) is administered to a patient who has a massive accumulation of morbid doṣas (doṣāḍhye), excessive internal dryness (rūkṣe), or an extremely rigid bowel tract (krūra-āśaye), the fluid becomes overwhelmed and enveloped by the doṣas (doṣa-āvṛtaḥ).
