हृद्रोगे वातकफजे तद्वद्गुल्मेऽपि योजयेत् । दन्तिदन्तस्थिरं स्थूलं मूलं दन्तीद्रवन्तिजम् ॥ ५१ ॥

in heart diseases caused by Vata and Kapha. In the same manner, it should also be administered for the treatment of abdominal tumors (gulma). The roots of dantī (Baliospermum montanum) and dravantī (Jatropha glandulifera) are thick, heavy, and firm, resembling the tusk of an elephant (danti-danta).

आताम्रश्यावतीक्ष्णोष्णमाशुकारि विकाशि च । गुरु प्रकोपि वातस्य पित्तश्लेष्मविलायनम् ॥ ५२ ॥

These roots are coppery-dark (ātāmra-śyāva) in color. They possess properties that are sharp/penetrating (tīkṣṇa), hot in potency (uṣṇa), quick-acting (āśukāri), and channel-expediting/permeating (vikāṣī). They are heavy (guru) to digest, aggravate Vata, and liquefy or dissolve morbid Pitta and Kapha.

तत् क्षौद्रपिप्पलीलिप्तं स्वेद्यं मृद्दर्भवेष्टितम् । शोष्यं मन्दातपेऽग्न्यर्कौ हतो ह्यस्य विकाशिताम् ॥ ५३ ॥

To process them, the roots are smeared with honey and long pepper (pippalī), wrapped in Darbha grass (Desmostachya bipinnata), and coated with a layer of mud. This bundle is then steamed (in a heap of embers). Once steamed, it is uncovered and dried under mild sunlight. Processing them with fire and the sun (agnyarkau) destroys their harsh, channel-weakening (vikāṣitā) toxicity.

तत् पिबेन् मस्तुमदिरातक्रपीलुरसासवैः । अभिष्यण्णतनुर्गुल्मी प्रमेही जठरी गरी ॥ ५४ ॥

This processed root powder should be consumed along with whey (mastu), wine (madirā), buttermilk (takra), the juice of pīlu (Salvadora persica), or fermented infusions (āsava). It is indicated for individuals with excessive internal moisture/congestion (abhiṣyaṇṇa-tanu), abdominal tumors (gulma), diabetes/urinary disorders (prameha), enlargement of the abdomen (jathara/udara), and chronic artificial poisoning (gara).

गोमृगाजरसैः पाण्डुः कृमिकोष्ठी भगन्दरी । सिद्धं तत् क्वाथकल्काभ्यां दशमूलरसेन च ॥ ५५ ॥

Patients suffering from anemia (pāṇḍu), intestinal worms (kṛmi-koṣṭha), and fistula-in-ano (bhagandara) should consume this formulation along with the meat soups of cow, deer, or goat. Furthermore, a medicated ghee processed with the decoction and paste of these two roots along with the decoction of Daśamūla (the ten roots),
