पान सम्पत् संज्ञा नाशो अनुन्मत्तस्य उन्मत्तत्वम् अप्रेतस्य प्रेतत्वं कौपीन दर्शनं श्रुत प्रज्ञा प्राण वित्त मित्र हानिः सद्भिर् वियोगो अनर्थ्य सम्योगस् तन्त्री गीत नैपुण्येषु च अर्थघ्नेषु प्रसङ्ग इति ॥
The auspicious effects of drinking are loss of money, lunacy in a sensate man, corpselike appearance while living, nakedness, the loss of the knowledge of the Vedas, loss of life, wealth, and friends, disassociation with the good, suffering from pain, and indulgence in playing on musical instruments and in singing at the expense of wealth.

pAna sampat saMjJA nAzo anunmattasya unmattatvam apretasya pretatvaM kaupIna darzanaM zruta prajJA prANa vitta mitra hAniH sadbhir viyogo anarthya samyogas tantrI gIta naipuNyeSu ca arthaghneSu prasaGga iti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptद्यूत मद्ययोर् द्यूतम् ॥
Of gambling and drinking, gambling causes gain or loss of the stakes to one party or other.
english translation
dyUta madyayor dyUtam ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएकेषां पण निमित्तो जयः पराजयो वा प्राणिषु निश्चेतनेषु वा पक्ष द्वैधेन प्रकृति कोपं करोति ॥
Even among dumb animals, it splits them into factions and causes provocation.
english translation
ekeSAM paNa nimitto jayaH parAjayo vA prANiSu nizcetaneSu vA pakSa dvaidhena prakRti kopaM karoti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविशेषतश् च संघानां संघ धर्मिणां च राज कुलानां द्यूत निमित्तो भेदस् तन् निमित्तो विनाश इत्य् असत् प्रग्रहः पापिष्ठतमो व्यसनानां तन्त्र दौर्बल्याद् इति ॥
It is specially due to gambling that assemblies and royal confederacies possessing the characteristics of assemblies are split into factions, and are consequently destroyed. The reception of what is condemned is the worst of all evils since it causes incapacity to deal with politics.
english translation
vizeSataz ca saMghAnAM saMgha dharmiNAM ca rAja kulAnAM dyUta nimitto bhedas tan nimitto vinAza ity asat pragrahaH pApiSThatamo vyasanAnAM tantra daurbalyAd iti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअसतां प्रग्रहः कामः कोपश् च अवग्रहः सताम् । व्यसनं दोष बाहुल्याद् अत्यन्तम् उभयं मतम् ॥
The reception of what is condemned is (due to) desire; and anger consists in oppressing the good; since both these are productive of many evils, both of them are held to be the worst evils.
english translation
asatAM pragrahaH kAmaH kopaz ca avagrahaH satAm । vyasanaM doSa bAhulyAd atyantam ubhayaM matam ॥
