मृगयायां तु व्यायामः श्लेष्म पित्त मेदः स्वेद नाशश् चले स्थिते च काये लक्ष परिचयः कोप भय स्थानेषु च मृगाणां चित्त ज्ञानम् अनित्य यानं च इति ॥
whereas in hunting, exercise, the disappearance of phlegm, bile, fat, and sweat, the acquisition of skill in aiming at stationary and moving bodies, the ascertainment of the appearance of beasts when provoked, and occasional march (are its good characteristics).

"द्यूत स्त्री व्यसनयोः कैतव व्यसनम्" इति कौणपदन्तः ॥
Kaunapadanta says that of addiction to gambling and to women, gambling is a more serious evil.

"सातत्येन हि निशि प्रदीपे मातरि च मृतायां दीव्यत्य् एव कितवः ॥
for gamblers always play, even at night by lamp light, and even when the mother (of one of the players) is dead.

कृच्छ्रे च प्रतिपृष्टः कुप्यति ॥
the gambler exhibits anger when spoken to in times of trouble.

स्त्री व्यसने तु स्नान प्रतिकर्म भोजन भूमिषु भवत्य् एव धर्म अर्थ परिप्रश्नः ॥
whereas in the case of addiction to women, it is possible to hold conversation about virtue and wealth, at the time of bathing, dressing and eating.
