आप्त पुरुष अधिष्ठितं यान वाहनम् आरोहेत्, नावं च आप्त नाविक अधिष्ठितम् ॥
He shall get into a boat only when it is piloted by a trustworthy sailor and is conjoined to a second boat.

अन्य नौ प्रतिबद्धां वात वेग वशां च न उपेयात् ॥
He shall never sail on any ship which had once been weatherbeaten.

उदक अन्ते सैन्यम् आसीत ॥
and (while boating on a good ship) his army shall all the while stand on the bank or the shore.
