कर्म फलाच् च सर्व प्रव्रजितानां ग्रास आच्छादन आवसथान् प्रतिविदध्यात् ॥
e. Out of the produce and profits thus acquired, he shall provide all ascetics with subsistence, clothing and lodging, and send on espionage such among those under his protection as are desirous to earn a livelihood (vrittikáma).
english translation
karma phalAc ca sarva pravrajitAnAM grAsa AcchAdana AvasathAn pratividadhyAt ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवृत्ति कामांश् च उपजपेत् "एतेन एव वेषेण राज अर्थश् चरितव्यो भक्त वेतन काले च उपस्थातव्यम्" इति ॥
ordering each of them to detect a particular kind of crime committed in connection with the king's wealth and to report of it when they come to receive their subsistence and wages.
english translation
vRtti kAmAMz ca upajapet "etena eva veSeNa rAja arthaz caritavyo bhakta vetana kAle ca upasthAtavyam" iti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसर्व प्रव्रजिताश् च स्वं स्वं वर्गम् एवम् उपजपेयुः ॥
All the ascetics (under the recluse) shall severally send their followers on similar errands.
english translation
sarva pravrajitAz ca svaM svaM vargam evam upajapeyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकर्षको वृत्ति क्षीणः प्रज्ञा शौच युक्तो गृह पतिक व्यञ्जनः ॥
A cultivator, fallen from his profession, but possessed of foresight and pure character is termed a householder spy.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptस कृषि कर्म प्रदिष्टायां भूमौ इति समानं पूर्वेण ॥
This spy shall carry on the cultivation of lands allotted to him for the purpose, and maintain cultivators, etc.--as before.
