संधि विग्रहयोश् चेत् पर कर्शनम् आत्म उपचयं वा न अभिपश्येज् ज्यायान् अप्य् आसीत ॥
When, either in peace or war, a king finds neither loss to his enemy nor gain to himself, he should, though superior, observe neutrality.
english translation
saMdhi vigrahayoz cet para karzanam Atma upacayaM vA na abhipazyej jyAyAn apy AsIta ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपर व्यसनम् अप्रतिकार्यं चेत् पश्येद्द् हीनो अप्य् अभियायात् ॥
When a king finds the troubles of his enemy irremediable, he should, though of inferior power, march against the enemy.
english translation
para vyasanam apratikAryaM cet pazyedd hIno apy abhiyAyAt ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअप्रतिकार्य आसन्न व्यसनो वा ज्यायान् अपि संश्रयेत ॥
When a king finds himself threatened by imminent dangers or troubles, he should, though superior, seek the protection of another.
english translation
apratikArya Asanna vyasano vA jyAyAn api saMzrayeta ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंधिना एकतो विग्रहेण एकतश् चेत् कार्य सिद्धिं पश्येज् ज्यायान् अपि द्वैधी भूतस् तिष्ठेत् ॥
When a king is sure to achieve his desired ends by making peace with one and waging war with another, he should, though superior, adopt the double policy.
english translation
saMdhinA ekato vigraheNa ekataz cet kArya siddhiM pazyej jyAyAn api dvaidhI bhUtas tiSThet ॥

Thus it is that the six forms of policy are applied together.
