आसन्ने च अनुपाते सत्त्रं वा गृह्णीयात् ॥
if he is closely followed, he may lead the pursuers to an ambuscade (sattra).
english translation
Asanne ca anupAte sattraM vA gRhNIyAt ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसत्त्र अभावे हिरण्यं रस विद्धं वा भक्ष्य जातम् उभयतः पन्थानम् उत्सृजेत् ॥
in the absence of an ambuscade he may leave here and there gold or morsels of poisoned food on both sides of a road and take a different road.
english translation
sattra abhAve hiraNyaM rasa viddhaM vA bhakSya jAtam ubhayataH panthAnam utsRjet ॥

Then he should escape in a different direction.

tato anyato apagacchet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगृहीतो वा साम आदिभिर् अनुपातम् अतिसंदध्यात्, रस विद्धेन वा पथ्य् अदनेन ॥
If he is captured, he should try to win over the pursuers by conciliation and other means, or serve them with poisoned food.

gRhIto vA sAma Adibhir anupAtam atisaMdadhyAt, rasa viddhena vA pathy adanena ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवारुण योग अग्नि दाहेषु वा शरीरम् अन्यद् आधाय शत्रुम् अभियुञ्जीत "पुत्रो मे त्वया हतः" इति ॥
and having caused another body to be put in a sacrifice performed to please god Varuna or in a fire that has broken out (the prince's father), may accuse the enemy of the murder of his son and attack the enemy.

vAruNa yoga agni dAheSu vA zarIram anyad AdhAya zatrum abhiyuJjIta "putro me tvayA hataH" iti ॥
