न च हतस्य भूमि द्रव्य पुत्र दारान् अभिमन्येत ॥

He should never covet the land, things, and sons and wives of the king slain by him.

कुल्यान् अप्य् अस्य स्वेषु पात्रेषु स्थापयेत् ॥

he should reinstate in their own estates the relatives of the kings slain.

कर्मणि मृतस्य पुत्रं राज्ये स्थापयेत् ॥

He should install in the kingdom the heir-apparent of the king who has died while working (with the conqueror).

एवम् अस्य दण्ड उपनताः पुत्र पौत्रान् अनुवर्तन्ते ॥

all conquered kings will, if thus treated, loyally follow the sons and grandsons of the conqueror.

यस् तु उपनतान् हत्वा बद्ध्वा वा भूमि द्रव्य पुत्र दारान् अभिमन्येत तस्य उद्विग्नं मण्डलम् अभावाय उत्तिष्ठते ॥

Whoever covets the lands, things, sons, and wives of the kings whom he has either slain or bound in chains will cause provocation to the Circle of States and make it rise against himself.
