हस्ति प्रधानो हि पर अनीक वध इति ॥
yet it is on elephants that the destruction of an enemy's army depends.

hasti pradhAno hi para anIka vadha iti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवारि स्थल पथ भोगयोर् अनित्यो वारि पथ भोगः, नित्यः स्थल पथ भोगः ॥
Of the two, communication by water and by land, the former is not long-standing, while the latter can ever be enjoyed.
english translation
vAri sthala patha bhogayor anityo vAri patha bhogaH, nityaH sthala patha bhogaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभिन्न मनुष्या श्रेणी मनुष्या वा भूमिर् इति भिन्न मनुष्या श्रेयसी ॥
Which is better, the land with scattered people or that with a corporation of people?
english translation
bhinna manuSyA zreNI manuSyA vA bhUmir iti bhinna manuSyA zreyasI ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभिन्न मनुष्या भोग्या भवति, अनुपजाप्या च अन्येषाम्, अनापत् सहा तु ॥
The former is better inasmuch as it can be kept under control and is not susceptible to the intrigues of enemys while the latter is intolerant of calamities and susceptible, of anger and other passions.

bhinna manuSyA bhogyA bhavati, anupajApyA ca anyeSAm, anApat sahA tu ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविपरीता श्रेणी मनुष्या, कोपे महा दोषा ॥
In colonizing a land with four castes, colonization with the lowest caste is better, inasmuch as it is serviceable in various ways, plentiful, and permanent.
