"त्वं च अहं च शून्यं निवेशयावहे" इत्य् अनवसित संधिः ॥

"tvaM ca ahaM ca zUnyaM nivezayAvahe" ity anavasita saMdhiH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतयोर् यः प्रत्युपस्थित अर्थो यथा उक्त गुणां भूमिं निवेशयति सो अतिसंधत्ते ॥
Whoever of the two parties of the agreement colonizes a fertile land, reaping the harvest earlier, overreaches the other.
english translation
tayor yaH pratyupasthita artho yathA ukta guNAM bhUmiM nivezayati so atisaMdhatte ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्र अपि स्थलम् औदकं वा इति महतः स्थलाद् अल्पम् औदकं श्रेयः, सातत्याद् अवस्थितत्वाच् च फलानाम् ॥
Which is better for colonization: a plain or watery land? A limited tract of land with water is far better than a vast plain, inasmuch as the former is conducive to the growth of crops and fruits throughout the year.
english translation
tatra api sthalam audakaM vA iti mahataH sthalAd alpam audakaM zreyaH, sAtatyAd avasthitatvAc ca phalAnAm ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्थलयोर् अपि प्रभूत पूर्व अपर सस्यम् अल्प वर्ष पाकम् असक्त आरम्भं श्रेयः ॥
Of plains, that which is conducive to the growth of both early and late crops and which requires less labour and less rain for cultivation is better than the other of reverse character.
english translation
sthalayor api prabhUta pUrva apara sasyam alpa varSa pAkam asakta ArambhaM zreyaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptऔदकयोर् अपि धान्य वापम् अधान्य वापात् श्रेयः ॥
Of watery lands, that which is conducive to the growth of grains is better than another productive of crops other than grains.

audakayor api dhAnya vApam adhAnya vApAt zreyaH ॥
