khanaka AkAza yodhibhyaH khanakebhyo bhUmi lAbhaH zreyAn ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptखनका हि खातेन शस्त्रेण च उभयथा युध्यन्ते, शस्त्रेण एव आकाश योधिनः ॥
for they can be serviceable inasmuch as they fight from ditches and with weapons in hand, whereas the latter can only fight with weapons in hand.

khanakA hi khAtena zastreNa ca ubhayathA yudhyante, zastreNa eva AkAza yodhinaH ॥

Whoever, well-versed in the science of polity, wrests land from such and other enemies will outshine both his allies in combination with him and enemies out of combination.
