एवम् अतिसंदध्यात्, यथा वा निक्षेप अपहारे व्याख्यातम् ॥

evam atisaMdadhyAt, yathA vA nikSepa apahAre vyAkhyAtam ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआप्त दोषं कर्म कारयेत्, न त्व् एव स्त्रियं गर्भिणीं सूतिकां वा मास अवर प्रजाताम् ॥
Those whose guilt is believed to be true shall be subjected to torture (áptadosham karma kárayet). But not women who are carrying or who have not passed a month after delivery.

Apta doSaM karma kArayet, na tv eva striyaM garbhiNIM sUtikAM vA mAsa avara prajAtAm ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्त्रियास् त्व् अर्ध कर्म, वाक्य अनुयोगो वा ॥
Torture of women shall be half of the prescribed standard. Or women with no exception may be subjected to the trial of cross-examination (vákyanuyogo vá).

striyAs tv ardha karma, vAkya anuyogo vA ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्राह्मणस्य सत्त्रि परिग्रहः श्रुतवतस् तपस्विनश् च ॥
Those of Bráhman caste and learned in the Vedas as well as asceties shall only be subjected to espionage.

brAhmaNasya sattri parigrahaH zrutavatas tapasvinaz ca ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य अतिक्रम उत्तमो दण्डः कर्तुः कारयितुश् च, कर्मणा व्यापादनेन च ॥
Those who violate or cause to violate the above rules shall be punished with the first amercement. The same punishment shall be imposed in case of causing death to any one by torture.
