मैथुने द्वादश पणस् तिर्यग् योनिष्व् अनात्मनः । दैवत प्रतिमानां च गमने द्वि गुणः स्मृतः ॥
When a senseless man has sexual intercourse with beasts, he shall be fined 12 panas; when he comits the same act with idols (representatives) of goddesses (daivatapratimá), he shall be fined twice as much.
english translation
maithune dvAdaza paNas tiryag yoniSv anAtmanaH । daivata pratimAnAM ca gamane dvi guNaH smRtaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअदण्ड्य दण्डने राज्ञो दण्डस् त्रिंशद् गुणो अंभसि । वरुणाय प्रदातव्यो ब्राह्मणेभ्यस् ततः परम् ॥
When the king punishes an innocent man, he shall throw into water dedicating to god Varuna a fine equal to thirty times the unjust imposition; and this amount shall afterwards be distributed among the Bráhmans.
english translation
adaNDya daNDane rAjJo daNDas triMzad guNo aMbhasi । varuNAya pradAtavyo brAhmaNebhyas tataH param ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेन तत् पूयते पापं राज्ञो दण्ड अपचारजम् । शास्ता हि वरुणो राज्ञां मिथ्या व्याचरतां नृषु ॥
By this act, the king will be free from the sin of unjust imposition; for king Varuna is the ruler of sinners among men.
english translation
tena tat pUyate pApaM rAjJo daNDa apacArajam । zAstA hi varuNo rAjJAM mithyA vyAcaratAM nRSu ॥
