Arthashastra
भूत पूर्वे येन दोषेण अपवृत्तस् तं प्रकृति दोषं छादयेत्, येन च गुणेन उपावृत्तस् तं तीव्री कुर्यात् इति ॥
Having recovered a lost territory, he should hide those vices of his, owing to which he lost it, and increase those virtues by which he recovered it.
english translation
bhUta pUrve yena doSeNa apavRttas taM prakRti doSaM chAdayet, yena ca guNena upAvRttas taM tIvrI kuryAt iti ॥
