मित्रं बन्धुं वा अपदिश्य योग पुरुषाः शासन मुद्रा हस्ताः प्रविश्य दुर्गं ग्राहयेयुः ॥
Spies, disguised as friends or relatives and with passports and orders in their hands, may enter the enemy's fort and help to its capture.
english translation
आसार व्यञ्ज्ञनो वा सम्रुद्धस्य प्रेषयेत् "अमुष्मिन् देशे काले च स्कन्ध आवारम् अभिहनिष्यामि, युष्माभिर् अपि योद्धव्यम्" इति ॥
Or a pretending ally of the enemy may send information to the besieged: "I am going to strike the besieging camp at such a time and place; then you should also fight along with me."
english translation
प्रतिपन्नं यथा उक्तम् अभ्याघात संकुलं दर्शयित्वा रात्रौ दुर्गान् निष्क्रान्तं घातयेत् ॥
Having shown that the acknowledged [enemy] was fraught with attacks, one should kill him at night when he has emerged from the fortress.
english translation
यद् वा मित्रम् आवाहयेद् आटव्विकं वा, तम् उत्साहयेत् "विक्रम्य सम्रुद्धे भूमिम् अस्य प्रतिपद्यस्व" इति ॥
Or a friend or a wild chief in friendship with the enemy may be induced and encouraged to seize the land of the enemy when the latter is besieged by the conqueror.
english translation
विक्रान्तं प्रकृतिभिर् दूष्य मुख्य उपग्रहेण वा घातयेत्, स्वयं वा रसेन "मित्र घातको अयम्" इत्य् अवाप्त अर्थः ॥
When accordingly any one of them attempts to seize the enemy's territory, the enemy's people or the leaders of the enemy's traitors may be employed to murder him (the friend or the wild chief)
