साधारण गर्दभेन दक्षान्, लकुट शाखा हननाभ्यां दण्ड चारिणः, कुल एडकेन च उद्विग्नान्, अशनि वर्षेण विमानितान्, विदुलेन अवकेशिना वायस पिण्डेन कैतवज मेघेन इति विहत आशान् दुर्भग अलंकारेण द्वेषिणा इति पूजा फलान्, व्याघ्र चर्मणा मृत्यु कूटेन च उपहितान्, पीलु विखादनेन करक योष्ट्रया गर्दभी क्षीरा अभिमन्थनेन इति ध्रुव उपकारिण इति ॥
They should characterise the enemy as an ordinary donkey towards skilful persons; as the branch of lakucha (Artocarpus Lacucha) broken to the officers of his army; as a crab on the shore to anxious persons; as a downpour of lightnings to those who are treated with contempt; as a reed, a barren tree, or an iron ball, or as false clouds to those who are disappointed; as the ornaments of an ugly woman to those who are disappointed in spite of their worshipful service; as a tiger's skin, or as a trap of death to his favourites; and as eating a piece of the wood of pílu (Careya-Arborea), or as churning the milk of a she-camel or a she-donkey (for butter) to those who are rendering to him valuable help.

sAdhAraNa gardabhena dakSAn, lakuTa zAkhA hananAbhyAM daNDa cAriNaH, kula eDakena ca udvignAn, azani varSeNa vimAnitAn, vidulena avakezinA vAyasa piNDena kaitavaja meghena iti vihata AzAn durbhaga alaMkAreNa dveSiNA iti pUjA phalAn, vyAghra carmaNA mRtyu kUTena ca upahitAn, pIlu vikhAdanena karaka yoSTrayA gardabhI kSIrA abhimanthanena iti dhruva upakAriNa iti ॥

When the people of the enemy are convinced of this, they may be sent to the conqueror to receive wealth and, honour.
english translation
pratipannAn artha mAnAbhyAM yojayet॥

Those of the enemy who are in need of money and food should be supplied with an abundance of those things.

dravya bhaktac chidreSu ca enAn dravya bhakta dAnair anugRhNIyAt ॥

Those who do not like to receive such things may be presented with ornaments for their wives and children.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptदुर्भिक्ष स्तेन अटव्य् उपघातेषु च पौर जानपदान् उत्साहयन्तः सत्त्रिणो ब्रूयुः "राजानम् अनुग्रहं याचामहे निरनुग्रहाः परत्र गच्छामः" इति ॥
When the people of the enemy are suffering from famine and the oppression of thieves and wild tribes, the conqueror's spies should sow the seeds of dissension among them, saying: "Let us request the king for favour and go elsewhere if not favoured."

durbhikSa stena aTavy upaghAteSu ca paura jAnapadAn utsAhayantaH sattriNo brUyuH "rAjAnam anugrahaM yAcAmahe niranugrahAH paratra gacchAmaH" iti ॥
