अनीश्वराः पितृमन्तः स्थित पितृ मातृकाः पुत्राः ॥
SONS whose fathers and mothers or ancestors are alive cannot be independent (anísvarah).
english translation
anIzvarAH pitRmantaH sthita pitR mAtRkAH putrAH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेषाम् ऊर्ध्वं पितृतो दाय विभागः पितृ द्रव्याणाम् ॥
After their time, division of ancestral property among descendants from the same ancestor shall take place, calculating per sterpes (according to fathers).
english translation
teSAm UrdhvaM pitRto dAya vibhAgaH pitR dravyANAm ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्वयं आर्जितम् अविभाज्यम्, अन्यत्र पितृ द्रव्याद् उत्थितेभ्यः ॥
Self-acquired property of any of the sons with the exception of that kind of property which is earned by means of parental property is not divisible.
english translation
svayaM Arjitam avibhAjyam, anyatra pitR dravyAd utthitebhyaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपितृ द्रव्याद् अविभक्त उपगतानां पुत्राः पौत्रा वा आ चतुर्थाद् इत्य् अंश भाजः ॥
Sons or grandsons till the fourth generation from the first parent shall also have prescribed shares (amsabhájah) in that property which is acquired by means of their undivided ancestral property;
english translation
pitR dravyAd avibhakta upagatAnAM putrAH pautrA vA A caturthAd ity aMza bhAjaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतावद् अविच्छिन्नः पिण्डो भवति ॥
for the line (pindah) as far as the fourth generation is uninterrupted (avichchhinnah).
english translation
tAvad avicchinnaH piNDo bhavati ॥
