पिता पुत्रयोर् दम्पत्योर् भ्रातृ भगिन्योर् मातुल भगिनेययोः शिष्य आचार्ययोर् वा परस्परम् अपतितं त्यजतः, सार्थ आभिप्रयातं ग्राम मध्ये वा त्यजतः पूर्वः साहस दण्डः, कान्तारे मध्यमः, तन् निमित्तं भ्रेषयत उत्तमः, सह प्रस्थायिष्व् अन्येष्व् अर्ध दण्डाः ॥
When between father and son, husband and wife brother and sister, maternal uncle and nephew or teacher and student, one abandons the other while neither of them is an apostate; and when a person abandons in the centre of a village another person whom he brought there for his own help, the first amercement shall be levied.
english translation
pitA putrayor dampatyor bhrAtR bhaginyor mAtula bhagineyayoH ziSya AcAryayor vA parasparam apatitaM tyajataH, sArtha AbhiprayAtaM grAma madhye vA tyajataH pUrvaH sAhasa daNDaH, kAntAre madhyamaH, tan nimittaM bhreSayata uttamaH, saha prasthAyiSv anyeSv ardha daNDAH ॥
