ततो निशा चराणां सत्त्वानाम् अन्यतमस्य शिरः कपालम् अञ्जनेन पूरयित्वा मृतायाः स्त्रिया योनौ प्रवेश्य दाहयेत् ॥
Wherever one may happen to see the corpse burnt or just being burnt of a Bráhman who kept sacrificial fire (while alive), there one should fast for three nights
english translation
tato nizA carANAM sattvAnAm anyatamasya ziraH kapAlam aJjanena pUrayitvA mRtAyAH striyA yonau pravezya dAhayet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतद् अञ्जनं पुष्येण उद्धृत्य तस्याम् अञ्जन्यां निदध्यात् ॥
One should take out that collyrium on the day of the Puṣya constellation and place it in that ointment container.
english translation
tad aJjanaM puSyeNa uddhRtya tasyAm aJjanyAM nidadhyAt ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेन अभ्यक्त अक्षो नष्ट छाया रूपश् चरति ॥
An ointed with that ॥ ointment॥, one can walk about with their form and shadow vanished.

tena abhyakta akSo naSTa chAyA rUpaz carati ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयत्र ब्राह्मणम् आहित अग्निं दग्धं दह्यमानं वा पश्येत् तत्र त्रि रात्र उपोषितः पुष्येण स्वयं मृतस्य वाससा प्रसेवं कृत्वा चिता भस्मना पूरयित्वा तम् आबध्य नष्टच् छाया रूपश् चरति ॥
Wherever one may happen to see the corpse, burnt or being burnt, of a Brāhman who maintained a sacrificial fire while alive, there one should fast for three nights. Then, one should make a bag out of the garment of the deceased, fill it with the ashes of the pyre, tie it up, and walk about as a phantom -like figure.

yatra brAhmaNam Ahita agniM dagdhaM dahyamAnaM vA pazyet tatra tri rAtra upoSitaH puSyeNa svayaM mRtasya vAsasA prasevaM kRtvA citA bhasmanA pUrayitvA tam Abadhya naSTac chAyA rUpaz carati ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्राह्मणस्य प्रेत कार्ये यो गौर् मार्यते तस्य अस्थि मज्ज चूर्ण पूर्णा अहि भस्त्रा पशूनाम् अन्तर् धानम् ॥
The slough of a snake filled with the powder of the bones and marrow or fat of the cow sacrificed during the funeral rites of a Bráhman, can, when put on the back of cattle, render them invisible.
english translation
brAhmaNasya preta kArye yo gaur mAryate tasya asthi majja cUrNa pUrNA ahi bhastrA pazUnAm antar dhAnam ॥
