पान अगाराण्य् अनेक कक्ष्याणि विभक्त शयन आसनवन्ति पान उद्देशानि गन्ध माल्य उदकवन्ति ऋतु सुखानि कारयेत् ॥
Liquor shops shall contain many rooms provided with beds and seats kept apart. The drinking room shall contain scents, garlands of flowers, water, and other comfortable things suitable to the varying seasons.
english translation
pAna agArANy aneka kakSyANi vibhakta zayana Asanavanti pAna uddezAni gandha mAlya udakavanti Rtu sukhAni kArayet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्रस्थाः प्रकृत्य् औत्पत्तिकौ व्ययौ गूढा विद्युः, आगन्तूंश् च ॥
Spies stationed in the shops shall ascertain whether the expenditure incurred by customers in the shop is ordinary or extraordinary and also whether there are any strangers.
english translation
tatrasthAH prakRty autpattikau vyayau gUDhA vidyuH, AgantUMz ca ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptक्रेतृऋणां मत्त सुप्तानाम् अलङ्कारात् छादन हिरण्यानि च विद्युः ॥
They shall also ascertain the value of the dress, ornaments, and gold of the customers lying there under intoxication.
english translation
kretRRNAM matta suptAnAm alaGkArAt chAdana hiraNyAni ca vidyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतन् नाशे वणिजस् तच् च तावच् च दण्डं दद्युः ॥
When customers under intoxication lose any of their things, the merchants of the shop shall not only make good the loss, but also pay an equivalent fine.
english translation
tan nAze vaNijas tac ca tAvac ca daNDaM dadyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवणिजश्स् तु संवृतेषु कक्ष्या विभागेषु स्व दासीभिः पेशल रूपाभिर् आगन्तूनां वास्तव्यानां च आर्य रूपाणां मत्त सुप्तानां भावं विद्युः ॥
Merchants seated in half-closed rooms shall observe the appearance of local and foreign customers who, in real or false guise of Aryas lie down in intoxication along with their beautiful mistresses.

vaNijazs tu saMvRteSu kakSyA vibhAgeSu sva dAsIbhiH pezala rUpAbhir AgantUnAM vAstavyAnAM ca Arya rUpANAM matta suptAnAM bhAvaM vidyuH ॥
