तेषु प्रशान्तेषु न अन्यान् शक्नुयुर् उपजपितुम् उपजपितारः ॥
for when the originators of an intrigue are put down, others will hardly succeed in undertaking any other intrigue.
english translation
teSu prazAnteSu na anyAn zaknuyur upajapitum upajapitAraH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकृच्छ्र उपजापा हि बाह्यानाम् अभ्यन्तरास् तेषाम् इतरे वा ॥
Foreigners can hardly win over local persons by intrigue; nor can local men seduce foreigners.
english translation
kRcchra upajApA hi bAhyAnAm abhyantarAs teSAm itare vA ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमहतश् च प्रयत्नस्य वधः परेषाम्, अर्थ अनुबन्धश् च आत्मन इति ॥
Foreigners will find their vast efforts after all unavailing, and only conducive, to the prosperity of the king (against whom they want to conspire).
english translation
mahataz ca prayatnasya vadhaH pareSAm, artha anubandhaz ca Atmana iti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअभ्यन्तरेषु प्रतिजपत्सु साम दाने प्रयुञ्जीत ॥
When local persons are abetting (with foreigners), the means to be employed to suppress them are conciliation (sáma) and gifts (dána).
