विपर्यये प्रत्यादेयः ॥
that which is of the reverse nature is „repayable‟;

viparyaye pratyAdeyaH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतम् आददानस् तत्रस्थो वा विनाशं प्राप्नोति ॥
whoever goes to receive a repayable profit or is enjoying it gets destruction.

tam AdadAnas tatrastho vA vinAzaM prApnoti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयदि वा पश्येत् "प्रत्यादेयम् आदाय कोश दण्ड निचय रक्षा विधानान्य् अवस्रावयिष्यामि, खनि द्रव्य हस्ति वन सेतु बन्ध वणिक् पथान् उद्धृत सारान् करिष्यामि, प्रकृतीर् अस्य कर्शयिष्यामि, अपवाहयिष्यामि, आयोगेन आराधयिष्यामि वा, ताः परं प्रतियोगेन कोपयिष्यति, प्रतिपक्षे वा अस्य पण्यम् एनं करिष्यामि, मित्रम् अपरुद्धं वा अस्य प्रतिपादयिष्यामि, मित्रस्य स्वस्य वा देशस्य पीडाम् अत्रस्थस् तस्करेभ्यः परेभ्यश् च प्रतिकरिष्यामि, मित्रम् आश्रयं वा अस्य वैगुण्यं ग्राहयिष्यामि, तद् अमित्र विरक्तं तत् कुलीनं प्रतिपत्स्यते, सत्कृत्य वा अस्मै भूमिं दास्यामि इति संहित समुत्थितं मित्रं मे चिराय भविष्यति" इति प्रत्यादेयम् अपि लाभम् आददीत ॥
When he, however, thinks that "by taking a repayable profit I shall cause my enemy‟s treasury, army, and other defensive resources to dwindle; I shall exploit to impoverishment the mines, timber and elephant forests, irrigational works and roads of traffic of my enemy; I shall impoverish his subjects, or cause them to migrate, or conspire against him; when they are reduced to this condition, my enemy inflames their hatred (by punishing them); or I shall set my enemy against another enemy; my enemy will give up his hopes and run away to one who has some blood-relationship with him; or having improved his lands, I shall return them to him, and when he is thus brought to ascendancy, he will be a lasting friend of mine,"--then he may take even a repayable profit.

yadi vA pazyet "pratyAdeyam AdAya koza daNDa nicaya rakSA vidhAnAny avasrAvayiSyAmi, khani dravya hasti vana setu bandha vaNik pathAn uddhRta sArAn kariSyAmi, prakRtIr asya karzayiSyAmi, apavAhayiSyAmi, Ayogena ArAdhayiSyAmi vA, tAH paraM pratiyogena kopayiSyati, pratipakSe vA asya paNyam enaM kariSyAmi, mitram aparuddhaM vA asya pratipAdayiSyAmi, mitrasya svasya vA dezasya pIDAm atrasthas taskarebhyaH parebhyaz ca pratikariSyAmi, mitram AzrayaM vA asya vaiguNyaM grAhayiSyAmi, tad amitra viraktaM tat kulInaM pratipatsyate, satkRtya vA asmai bhUmiM dAsyAmi iti saMhita samutthitaM mitraM me cirAya bhaviSyati" iti pratyAdeyam api lAbham AdadIta ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptअधार्मिकाद् धार्मिकस्य लाभो लभ्यमानः स्वेषां परेषां च प्रसादको भवति ॥
That profit which a virtuous king receives from a wicked king pleases both his own and other people.

adhArmikAd dhArmikasya lAbho labhyamAnaH sveSAM pareSAM ca prasAdako bhavati ॥
