अमित्राद् वा सत्त्री भेदयेद् एनं "अयं त्वा योग पुरुषं मन्यमानो भर्तर्य् एव विक्रमयिष्यति, अवाप्त अर्थो दण्ड चारिणम् अमित्र आटविकेषु कृच्छ्रे वा प्रयासे योक्ष्यति, विपुत्र दारम् अन्ते वा वासयिष्यति ॥
or a spy may prevent him from combining with an enemy by saying: "This enemy makes a cat's-paw of you and causes you to fall upon your own lord; When his aim is realised, he makes you to lead an army against enemies or wild tribes, or to sojourn in a troublesome place; or he causes you to reside at a frontier station far from the company of your sons and wife.

amitrAd vA sattrI bhedayed enaM "ayaM tvA yoga puruSaM manyamAno bhartary eva vikramayiSyati, avApta artho daNDa cAriNam amitra ATavikeSu kRcchre vA prayAse yokSyati, viputra dAram ante vA vAsayiSyati ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रतिहत विक्रमं त्वां भर्तर्य् पण्यं करिष्यति, त्वया वा संधिं कृत्वा भर्तारम् एव प्रसादयिष्यति ॥
When you have lost all your strength, he sells you to your own lord; or having made peace with you, he will please your own lord.
english translation
pratihata vikramaM tvAM bhartary paNyaM kariSyati, tvayA vA saMdhiM kRtvA bhartAram eva prasAdayiSyati ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमित्रम् उपकृष्टं वा अस्य गच्छ" इति ॥
Hence it is advisable for you to go to the best friend of your lord."

mitram upakRSTaM vA asya gaccha" iti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रतिपन्नम् इष्ट अभिप्रायैः पूजयेत् ॥
When he agrees to the proposal, he is to be honoured.

pratipannam iSTa abhiprAyaiH pUjayet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअप्रतिपन्नस्य संश्रयं भेदयेद् "असौ ते योग पुरुषः प्रणिहितः" इति ॥
but when he refuses to listen, he is to be told: "I am specially sent to separate you from the enemy."

apratipannasya saMzrayaM bhedayed "asau te yoga puruSaH praNihitaH" iti ॥
