ससंकेतं वा रात्रि युद्धे भूरि तूर्यम् आहत्य ब्रूयुः "अनुप्रविष्टाः स्मो, लब्धं राज्यम्" इति ॥
Or in accordance with a preconcerted plan, they may, on the occasion of a night-battle, go to the enemy's capital, and blowing a large number of trumpets, cry aloud: "We have entered into the capital, and the country has been conquered."
english translation
sasaMketaM vA rAtri yuddhe bhUri tUryam Ahatya brUyuH "anupraviSTAH smo, labdhaM rAjyam" iti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराज आवासम् अनुप्रविष्टा वा संकुलेषु राजानं हन्युः ॥
After entering into the king's (the enemy's) palace, they may kill the king in the tumult.
english translation
rAja AvAsam anupraviSTA vA saMkuleSu rAjAnaM hanyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसर्वतो वा प्रयातम् एन एव म्लेच्छ आटविक दण्ट चारिणः सत्त्र अपाश्रयाः स्तम्भ वाट अपाश्रया वा हन्युः ॥
Or, as he sets forth, barbarians, forest-dwellers, or staff-bearing scouts—whether seeking cover in thickets or relying on the concealment of fences and enclosures—might strike him down from any direction.

sarvato vA prayAtam ena eva mleccha ATavika daNTa cAriNaH sattra apAzrayAH stambha vATa apAzrayA vA hanyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptलुब्धक व्यञ्जना वा अवस्कन्द संकुलेषु गूढ युद्ध हेतुभिर् अभिहन्युः ॥
or spies, under the guise of hunters, may slay the king when he is directing his attack, or in the tumult of attack following the plan of treacherous fights.
english translation
lubdhaka vyaJjanA vA avaskanda saMkuleSu gUDha yuddha hetubhir abhihanyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएक अयने वा शैल स्तम्भ वाट खञ्जन अन्तर् उदके वा स्व भूमि बलेन अभिहन्युः ॥
Or occupying an advantageous position, they may slay the enemy when he is marching in a narrow path passable by a single man, or on a mountain, or near the trunk of a tree, or under the branches of a banian tree, or in water.
