ये च अस्य दुर्गेषु वैदेहकव्यञ्जनाः, ग्रामेसु गृहपतिक व्यञ्जनाः, जन पद संधिषु गो रक्षक तापस व्यञ्जनाः, ते सामन्त आटविक तत् कुलीन अपरुद्धानां पण्य आगार पूर्वं प्रेषयेयुः "अयं देशो हार्यः" इति ॥
THE conqueror's spies who are residing as traders in the enemy's forts, and those who are living as cultivators in the enemy's villages, as well as those who are living as cowherds or ascetics in the district borders of the enemy's country may send through merchants, information to another neighbouring enemy, or a wild chief, or a scion of the enemy's family, or an imprisoned prince that the enemy's country is to be captured.

ye ca asya durgeSu vaidehakavyaJjanAH, grAmesu gRhapatika vyaJjanAH, jana pada saMdhiSu go rakSaka tApasa vyaJjanAH, te sAmanta ATavika tat kulIna aparuddhAnAM paNya AgAra pUrvaM preSayeyuH "ayaM dezo hAryaH" iti ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआगतांश् च एषां दुर्गे गूढ पुरुषान् अर्थ मानाभ्याम् अभिसत्कृत्य प्रकृतिच् छिद्राणि प्रदर्शयेयुः ॥
And when their secret agents arrive at the stronghold, they should be welcomed with honors and material gifts, and then be shown the inherent vulnerabilities of the state.

AgatAMz ca eSAM durge gUDha puruSAn artha mAnAbhyAm abhisatkRtya prakRtic chidrANi pradarzayeyuH ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्कन्ध आवारे वा अस्य शौण्डिक व्यञ्जनः पुत्रम् अभित्यक्तं स्थापयित्वा अवस्कन्द काले रसेन प्रवासयित्वा "नैषेचनिकम्" इति मदन रस युक्तान् मद्यकुम्भान् शतशः प्रयच्छेत् ॥
Or having put a banished prince in the enemy's camp; a spy disguised as a vintner in the service of the enemy, may distribute as a toast hundreds of vessels of liquor mixed with the juice of the madana plant; or, for the first day, he may distribute a mild or intoxicating variety of liquor, and on the following days such liquor as is mixed with poison.

skandha AvAre vA asya zauNDika vyaJjanaH putram abhityaktaM sthApayitvA avaskanda kAle rasena pravAsayitvA "naiSecanikam" iti madana rasa yuktAn madyakumbhAn zatazaH prayacchet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशुद्धं वा मद्यं पाद्यं वा मद्यं दद्याद् एकम् अहः, उत्तरं रस् सिद्धं प्रयच्छेत् ॥
or having given pure liquor to the officers of the enemy's army, he may give them poisoned liquor when they are in intoxication.

zuddhaM vA madyaM pAdyaM vA madyaM dadyAd ekam ahaH, uttaraM ras siddhaM prayacchet ॥
