One that is rough, colorless, struck down (vidhvasta), situated to the south, is utterly vanquished (vijita). One situated to the north, having brilliancy, large, is victor (jayin)—and even in the south if powerful (baliri).

english translation

If both planets be brilliant, when they come near—we have conjunction (samagama). If the planets be of lesser brilliancy and struck down, they are called kuta vigraha (transverse planets).

english translation

Venus is generally the victor, whether it is situated north or south. Perform the calculation for conjunction for planets and moon likewise.

english translation

The planets move upon their own paths approaching each other at a distance. As they are seen together, they are taken as the determinants of good and bad fortunes of human kind.
