Srimad Bhagavatam
मत्कर्मभिर्मत्कथया च नित्यं मद्देवसङ्गाद्गुणकीर्तनान्मे । निर्वैरसाम्योपशमेन पुत्रा जिहासया देहगेहात्मबुद्धेः ॥ ५-५-११ ॥
Try to realize the miserable condition of living entities, who are miserable even in the higher planetary systems. Philosophically inquire about the truth. Then undergo all kinds of austerities and penances for the sake of devotional service. Give up the endeavor for sense enjoyment and engage in the service of the Lord. ॥ 5-5-11 ॥

उन जीवात्माओं की कष्टमय दशा को समझने का प्रयास करो, जो स्वर्ग में भी दुखी रहती हैं। सत्य का दार्शनिक तौर पर अन्वेषण करो। फिर भक्ति के निमित्त समस्त प्रकार की तपस्या करो। इन्द्रिय-सुख के लिए प्रयत्नों का परित्याग करके ईश्वर की सेवा में लगो। ॥ ५-५-११ ॥
