ये त्विह वै दस्यवोऽग्निदा गरदा ग्रामान् सार्थान् वा विलुम्पन्ति राजानो राजभटा वा तांश्चापि हि परेत्य यमदूता वज्रदंष्ट्राः श्वानः सप्तशतानि विंशतिश्च सरभसं खादन्ति ॥ ५-२६-२७ ॥
In this world, some persons are professional plunderers who set fire to others’ houses or administer poison to them. Also, members of the royalty or government officials sometimes plunder mercantile men by forcing them to pay income tax and by other methods. After death such demons are put into the hell known as Sārameyādana. On that planet there are 720 dogs with teeth as strong as thunderbolts. Under the orders of the agents of Yamarāja, these dogs voraciously devour such sinful people. ॥ 5-26-27 ॥

इस जगत में कुछ लोगों का व्यवसाय ही लूटपाट करना है जो दूसरों के घरों में आग लगाते हैं अथवा उन्हें विष देते हैं। यही नहीं, राज्य-अधिकारी कभी-कभी वणिक जनों को आयकर अदा करने पर विवश करके तथा अन्य विधियों से लूटते हैं। मृत्यु के पश्चात् ऐसे असुरों को सारमेयादन नामक नरक में रखा जाता है। उस नरक में सात सौ बीस कुत्ते हैं जिनके दाँत वज्र के समान कठोर हैं। ये कुत्ते यमराज के दूतों के आदेश पर ऐसे पापीजनों को भूके भेडिय़ों की भाँति निगल जाते हैं। ॥ ५-२६-२७ ॥
