तत उपरिष्टात्त्रिलक्षयोजनतो नक्षत्राणि मेरुं दक्षिणेनैव कालायन ईश्वरयोजितानि सहाभिजिताष्टाविंशतिः ।। ५-२२-११ ।।

There are many stars located 200,000 yojanas [1,600,000 miles] above the moon. By the supreme will of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, they are fixed to the wheel of time, and thus they rotate with Mount Sumeru on their right, their motion being different from that of the sun. There are twenty-eight important stars, headed by Abhijit. ।। 5-22-11 ।।

चन्द्रमा से २,००,००० योजन (१६,००,०००) ऊपर कई नक्षत्र स्थित हैं। श्रीभगवान् ने उन्हें कालचक्र में संयुक्त कर रखा है, अत: ये सुमेरु पर्वत को दाईं ओर रखते हुए घूमते रहते हैं और इनकी गति सूर्य की गति से सर्वथा भिन्न होती है। अभिजित् सहित कुल अट्ठाइस नक्षत्र हैं। ।। ५-२२-११ ।।

तत उपरिष्टादुशना द्विलक्षयोजनत उपलभ्यते पुरतः पश्चात्सहैव वार्कस्य शैघ्र्यमान्द्यसाम्याभिर्गतिभिरर्कवच्चरति लोकानां नित्यदानुकूल एव प्रायेण वर्षयंश्चारेणानुमीयते स वृष्टिविष्टम्भग्रहोपशमनः ।। ५-२२-१२ ।।

Some 1,600,000 miles above this group of stars is the planet Venus, which moves at almost exactly the same pace as the sun according to swift, slow and moderate movements. Sometimes Venus moves behind the sun, sometimes in front of the sun and sometimes along with it. Venus nullifies the influence of planets that are obstacles to rainfall. Consequently its presence causes rainfall, and it is therefore considered very favorable for all living beings within this universe. This has been accepted by learned scholars. ।। 5-22-12 ।।

इन नक्षत्रों से लगभग २,००,००० योजन (१६,००,००० मील) ऊपर शुक्र ग्रह है जो लगभग सूर्य की ही गति अर्थात् तीव्र, मन्द तथा मध्यम गतियों से घूमता है। वह कभी सूर्य के पीछे, कभी सामने और कभी उसी के साथ-साथ रहता है। वह वर्षा में विघ्न डालने वाले ग्रहों को शान्त करने वाला है, अत: इसकी उपस्थिति में वर्षा होती है और इसलिए यह इस ब्रह्माण्ड के समस्त जीवों के अनुकूल माना जाता है। इसे विद्वानों ने स्वीकार किया है। ।। ५-२२-१२ ।।

उशनसा बुधो व्याख्यातस्तत उपरिष्टाद्द्विलक्षयोजनतो बुधः सोमसुत उपलभ्यमानःप्रायेण शुभकृद्यदार्काद्व्यतिरिच्येत तदातिवाताभ्रप्रायानावृष्ट्यादि भयमाशंसते ।। ५-२२-१३ ।।

Mercury is described to be similar to Venus, in that it moves sometimes behind the sun, sometimes in front of the sun and sometimes along with it. It is 1,600,000 miles above Venus, or 7,200,000 miles above earth. Mercury, which is the son of the moon, is almost always very auspicious for the inhabitants of the universe, but when it does not move along with the sun, it forbodes cyclones, dust, irregular rainfall, and waterless clouds. In this way it creates fearful conditions due to inadequate or excessive rainfall. ।। 5-22-13 ।।

बुध को शुक्र के ही समान बताया है, क्योंकि यह कभी सूर्य के पीछे, कभी सामने और कभी-कभी इसके साथ-साथ घूमता है। यह शुक्र से १६,००,००० मील अथवा पृथ्वी से ७२,००,००० मील ऊपर स्थित है। यह चन्द्रमा का पुत्र होने से विश्व के वासियों का मंगल करने वाला है, किन्तु जब यह सूर्य के साथ नहीं घूमता होता तो यह चक्रवात, अंधड़, अनियमित वर्षा तथा जलरहित बादलों की जानकारी देता है। इस प्रकार अवर्षा या अतिवर्षा के कारण यह भयावह परिस्थिति उत्पन्न करता है। ।। ५-२२-१३ ।।

अत ऊर्ध्वमङ्गारकोऽपि योजनलक्षद्वितय उपलभ्यमानस्त्रिभिस्त्रिभिः पक्षैरेकैकशो राशीन् द्वादशानुभुङ्क्ते यदि न वक्रेणाभिवर्तते प्रायेणाशुभग्रहोऽघशंसः ।। ५-२२-१४ ।।

Situated 1,600,000 miles above Mercury, or 8,800,000 miles above earth, is the planet Mars. If this planet does not travel in a crooked way, it crosses through each sign of the zodiac in three fortnights and in this way travels through all twelve, one after another. It almost always creates unfavorable conditions in respect to rainfall and other influences. ।। 5-22-14 ।।

बुध से १६,००,००० मील ऊपर अथवा पृथ्वी से ८८,००,००० मील ऊपर मंगल ग्रह है। यदि यह वक्रगति से न चले तो एक-एक राशि को तीन-तीन पक्षों में पार करता हुआ क्रमश: बारहों राशियों में से यात्रा करता है। यह प्राय: सदैव वर्षा तथा अन्य प्रभावों के रूप में प्रतिकूल अवस्थाएँ उत्पन्न करता है। ।। ५-२२-१४ ।।

Situated 1,600,000 miles above Mars, or 10,400,000 miles above earth, is the planet Jupiter, which travels through one sign of the zodiac within the period of a Parivatsara. If its movement is not curved, the planet Jupiter is very favorable to the brāhmaṇas of the universe. ।। 5-22-15 ।।

मंगल से १,६००,००० योजन अथवा पृथ्वी से १०,४००,००० मील ऊपर बृहस्पति नामक ग्रह स्थित है जो एक परिवत्सर में एक राशि की यात्रा करता है। यदि यह वक्रगति से न चले तो यह ब्राह्मणों के लिए अत्यन्त अनुकूल रहता है। ।। ५-२२-१५ ।।
