क्वचिच्च शीतवाताद्यनेकाधिदैविकभौतिकात्मीयानां दशानां प्रतिनिवारणेऽकल्पो दुरन्तचिन्तया विषण्ण आस्ते ।। ५-१४-२५ ।।

Being unable to protect himself from the threefold miseries of material existence, the conditioned soul becomes very morose and lives a life of lamentation. These threefold miseries are miseries suffered by mental calamity at the hands of the demigods [such as freezing wind and scorching heat], miseries offered by other living entities, and miseries arising from the mind and body themselves. ।। 5-14-25 ।।

english translation

भौतिक जगत के तापत्रय से अपनी रक्षा न कर सकने के कारण बद्धजीव अत्यन्त दुखी रहता है और शोकपूर्ण जीवन बिताता है। ये तीन प्रकार के संताप हैं—देवताओं द्वारा दिये जानेवाला मानसिक ताप, (यथा हिमानी हवा तथा चिलचिलाती धूप), अन्य जीवात्माओं द्वारा प्रदत्त ताप तथा मन एवं देह से उत्पन्न होने वाले ताप। ।। ५-१४-२५ ।।
