सत्यां क्षितौ किं कशिपोः प्रयासैर्बाहौ स्वसिद्धे ह्युपबर्हणैः किम् । सत्यञ्जलौ किं पुरुधान्नपात्र्या दिग्वल्कलादौ सति किं दुकूलैः ।। २-२-४ ।।
When there are ample earthly flats to lie on, what is the necessity of cots and beds? When one can use his own arms, what is the necessity of a pillow? When one can use the palms of his hands, what is the necessity of varieties of utensils? When there is ample covering, or the skins of trees, what is the necessity of clothing? ।। 2-2-4 ।।

जब लेटने के लिए विपुल भूखंड पड़े हैं, तो चारपाइयों तथा गद्दों की क्या आवश्यकता है? जब मनुष्य अपनी बाँह का उपयोग कर सकता है, तो फिर तकिये की क्या आवश्यकता है? जब मनुष्य अपनी हथेलियों का उपयोग कर सकता है, तो तरह-तरह के बर्तनों की क्या आवश्यकता है? जब पर्याप्त ओढऩ अथवा वृक्ष की छाल उपलब्ध हो, तो फिर वस्त्र की क्या आवश्यकता है? ।। २-२-४ ।।
