एवं त्रिपुंड्रं यः कुर्य्यान्नित्यं नियतमानसः । शिवभक्तः सविज्ञेयो भुक्तिं मुक्तिं च विंदति ८१ ।
He who wears Tripuṇḍra like this regularly with a pure controlled mind must be considered a true devotee of Śiva. He derives worldly pleasures and salvation.
english translation
evaM tripuMDraM yaH kuryyAnnityaM niyatamAnasaH । zivabhaktaH savijJeyo bhuktiM muktiM ca viMdati 81 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयस्यांगेनैव रुद्रा क्ष एकोपि बहुपुण्यदः । तस्य जन्मनिरर्थं स्यात्त्रिपुंड्ररहितो यदि ८२ ।
If a person does not wear a bead of Rudrākṣa which accords many merits, if he is devoid of Tripuṇḍra as well, his life becomes futile.
english translation
yasyAMgenaiva rudrA kSa ekopi bahupuNyadaH । tasya janmanirarthaM syAttripuMDrarahito yadi 82 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवं त्रिपुंड्रमाहात्म्यं समासात्कथितं मया । रहस्यं सर्वजंतूनां गोपनीयमिदं त्वया ८३ ।
Thus I have briefly told you the greatness of Tripuṇḍra. This is a secret to be safely guarded by you from all living beings.
english translation
evaM tripuMDramAhAtmyaM samAsAtkathitaM mayA । rahasyaM sarvajaMtUnAM gopanIyamidaM tvayA 83 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतिस्रो रेखा भवंत्येव स्थानेषु मुनिपुंगवाः । ललाटादिषु सर्वेषु यथोक्तेषु बुधैर्मुने ८४ ।
O leading sages, in the different parts of the body as the forehead etc. three lines constitute the Tripuṇḍra.
english translation
tisro rekhA bhavaMtyeva sthAneSu munipuMgavAH । lalATAdiSu sarveSu yathokteSu budhairmune 84 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभ्रुवोर्मध्यं समारभ्य यावदंतो भवेद्भ्रुवोः । तावत्प्रमाणं संधार्यं ललाटे च त्रिपुंड्रकम् ८५ ।
The Tripuṇḍra on the forehead extends from the middle of the eyebrows to the tips of the brows on either side.

bhruvormadhyaM samArabhya yAvadaMto bhavedbhruvoH । tAvatpramANaM saMdhAryaM lalATe ca tripuMDrakam 85 ।
