ऋषय ऊचुः । सूत सूत चिरंजीव धन्यस्त्वं शिवभक्तिमान् । सम्यगुक्तस्त्वया लिंगमहिमा सत्फलप्रदः १ ।
The sages said: O Sūta, Sūta, be long-lived. Thou art a blessed devotee of Śiva. The greatness of Siva’s phallic image in according excellent benefit has been well explained by you.
english translation
RSaya UcuH । sUta sUta ciraMjIva dhanyastvaM zivabhaktimAn । samyaguktastvayA liMgamahimA satphalapradaH 1 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयत्र पार्थिवमाहेशलिंगस्य महिमाधुना । सर्वोत्कृष्टश्च कथितो व्यासतो ब्रूहि तं पुनः २ ।
Now speak about the greatness of Earthen phallic image of Śiva which is far superior to all others.
english translation
yatra pArthivamAhezaliMgasya mahimAdhunA । sarvotkRSTazca kathito vyAsato brUhi taM punaH 2 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसूत उवाच । शृणुध्वमृषयः सर्वे सद्भक्त्या हरतो खिलाः । शिवपार्थिवलिंगस्य महिमा प्रोच्यते मया ३ ।
Sūta said: O sages, please listen all of you with great devotion and respect. Now I am going to speak on the greatness of earthly phallic image of Siva.
english translation
sUta uvAca । zRNudhvamRSayaH sarve sadbhaktyA harato khilAH । zivapArthivaliMgasya mahimA procyate mayA 3 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउक्तेष्वेतेषु लिंगेषु पार्थिवं लिंगमुत्तमम् । तस्य पूजनतो विप्रा बहवः सिद्धिमागताः ४ ।
The Earthly phallic image of Śiva is the most excellent of all such images of Śiva. Many brahmins have achieved great things by worshipping it.
english translation
ukteSveteSu liMgeSu pArthivaM liMgamuttamam । tasya pUjanato viprA bahavaH siddhimAgatAH 4 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहरिर्ब्रह्मा च ऋषयः सप्रजापतयस्तथा । संपूज्य पार्थिवं लिंगं प्रापुःसर्वेप्सितं द्विजाः ५ ।
O brahmins, Hari, Brahmā, Prajāpati and other sages have attained all they desired by worshipping this Earthly phallic image.
english translation
harirbrahmA ca RSayaH saprajApatayastathA । saMpUjya pArthivaM liMgaM prApuHsarvepsitaM dvijAH 5 ।
