अतस्तद्विषशांत्यर्थं स्नानदानजपांश्चरेत् । विषशांत्यर्थकालत्वात्स कालः पुण्यदः स्मृतः ११ ।

Hence for the alleviation of the serious effects of poison, the devotee shall observe ceremonial ablutions, offer gifts and mutter prayers. That period is specially holy inasmuch as it is intended for the alleviation of the after-effects of poison.

जन्मर्क्षे च व्रतांते च सूर्यरागोपमं विदुः । महतां संगकालश्च कोट्यर्कग्रहणं विदुः १२ ।

The birth-star, and the concluding period of holy rites are of the same efficacy as the period of Solar eclipse. The time spent in the company of noble holy men is of the efficacy of crores of solar eclipses.

तपोनिष्ठा ज्ञाननिष्ठा योगिनो यतयस्तथा । पूजायाः पात्रमेते हि पापसंक्षयकारणम् १३ ।

Persons of unflinching devotion to austerities and perfect knowledge, yogins and ascetics deserve holy worship since they quell others’ sins.

चतुर्विंशतिलक्षं वा गायत्र्या जपसंयुतः । ब्राह्मणस्तु भवेत्पात्रं संपूर्णफलभोगदम् १४ ।

A brahmin who has repeated the Gāyatrī mantra two million four hundred thousand times also deserves the same and accords full benefit and wordly enjoyments.

पतनात्त्रायत इति पात्रं शास्त्रे प्रयुज्यते । दातुश्च पातकात्त्राणात्पात्रमित्यभिधीयते १५ ।

The word Pātra (one who deserves) means one who protects the giver from downfall.
