आदौ त्रैलोक्यवृद्ध्यर्थं पुण्यपापे प्रकल्पिते । तयोः कर्त्रोस्ततो वारमिंद्र स्य च यमस्य च १८ ।

sanskrit

The last two days of the week created by the lord are those of Indra and Yama. In the beginning when the lord created Puṇya and Pāpa (Virtue and Sin) for making the three worlds flourish, these deities who preside over them were assigned these two days.

english translation

Adau trailokyavRddhyarthaM puNyapApe prakalpite | tayoH kartrostato vAramiMdra sya ca yamasya ca 18 |
